Can You Switch a SubliJet Printer to VersiFlex?
It is one of the most common questions we get. The short answer: no. A printer already running SubliJet UHD, ChromaBlast, or EasySubli ink cannot be switched to VersiFlex.
Why not?
VersiFlex uses a specialty ink formula made to work with its own papers. Because of that formula, Sawgrass says printers already using other ink sets are not compatible. A VersiFlex printer needs to start fresh with VersiFlex ink from day one.
The same goes the other way. Once a printer is set up with VersiFlex, it cannot go back to SubliJet.
The two-printer setup
Many growing shops run two printers side by side:
- Printer 1, SubliJet UHD: mugs, tumblers, poly shirts, and other classic sublimation blanks.
- Printer 2, VersiFlex: cotton tees, totes, wood, and leather.
This way you keep the products you already sell and add a whole new line of cotton goods.
Keep your current printer working
Your SubliJet UHD printer is still a workhorse. Keep it stocked with SubliJet UHD ink, and add an SG500 VersiFlex Printer or VersiFlex SG10000 Printer when you are ready to grow.
